Manchester United trio, Michael Carrick, Wes Brown and Rio Ferdinand, have agreed to sign new contracts today, confirmed by manager, Sir Alex Ferguson. Reds defender Brown’s contract was due to expire in the summer while 29-year-old central defender, Ferdinand, had two years remaining on his previous deal. The 26-year-old midfielder, Carrick, joined the club in 2006 in a £18.6m deal from Tottenham.
Of the three new contracts, Ferdinand’s representative, Pini Zahavi, has revealed earlier this week that the defender agreed a new five-year deal, believed to be worth £130,000 a week. This made him as one of the highest-paid player, beside Cristiano Ronaldo, in the Manchester United squad.
The on-going speculation of 28-year-old Brown of whether if he has intention to move to another club has ceased with the agreement of the new contract.
